Speakers at Ipswich meetings

Andy Wattam
will be giving The David Little Talk at Ipswich on 16th April.

That he spent the first 21 years of his life on the family farm comes over loud and clear in his promotion of “good stockmanship”. After some years in the Fire Service, he became a Seasonal Bee Inspector in 2002 alongside his regular job and his own 60 colonies and, in 2005, the Eastern Region RBI. His chance remark: “Bee Inspectors do their own beekeeping when the weather’s too nasty to visit” and the assertion that an apiary inspection need take only 15 minutes (quickly amended to 20 to include getting on the bee suit) led to this invitation. Another comment was: “Beekeepers tend to namby-pamby their bees too much.” His drive to teach and his excellence at it mean we are very fortunate to have him as our RBI, especially as he still lives near Loughborough, north of Leicester.
